Hi, my name is Steve Nardi
Meet Steve Nardi
I grew up in Bay Village, Ohio in the mid 50's with the Norfolk & Western mainline less than ¼ mile away and dad's Lionel in the basement. I still recall the thunder pounding the rails and the growling sounds of early diesels. A paper route supported the purchase of a shiny new brass 0-4-0 plantation engine. I have been running to the hobby shops ever since.
My attention shifted to western railroads when I was stationed in Yuma, Arizona. I raised my children train watching at the Southern Pacific's Yuma station, bribed with a trip to an ice cream stand. A 22-year career in the military prohibited a layout. Train watching, occasionally scratch building, and volunteering to work on club or home layouts satisfied my thirst for the wonderful Model Railroading hobby.
Once retired from the military I focused my attention on education and launching a new carrier at Solar Turbines. Today, I have a degree hanging on the wall and 10 years under my belt at Solar. With the support of my wife and children, I'm casting aside the armchair model railroading and look foreword to club activities with a great bunch of folks who share the same interests.
A home layout is on the horizon, where Southern Pacific modern power and cabooses reign.
Now, which box is that 0-4-0 plantation engine in
